Handheld Barcode Scanners

Corded 1D and 2D scanning for counters, benches and goods inward

Corded handheld scanners for a fixed position, where the item comes to the scanner. They plug straight into the till or the workstation, present themselves as a keyboard so no software changes are needed, and never run out of battery mid-shift.

Handheld Scanner FAQs

Where is a corded handheld scanner the right choice?

At a fixed position where the item comes to the operator, such as a billing counter, a packing bench or a goods inward desk. It draws power from the cable, so there is no battery to charge and nothing to pair.

Should I choose a 1D or a 2D handheld scanner?

Choose 1D if you only ever scan the linear barcodes on stock and retail labels. Choose 2D if you need QR codes, Data Matrix or PDF417, or if you will ever scan a code from a phone screen, which a laser scanner cannot read.

How far can a handheld scanner read?

A standard handheld reads from contact out to roughly arm's length, which suits a counter or bench. Reading a label several metres away, such as a rack location, needs a long-range model or a mobile computer with an extended-range imager.
